Spanish surprise !

Madrid ring on an adult female Blackcap at Willington 07/07/07

Peckers at Willington 07/07/07

Great Spotted Woodpecker - juvenile

Great-Spotted Woodpecker adult male

Warblers 07/07/07

Sedge Warbler - juvenile, immaculate feathers and spotty necklace on upper throat.

Reed Warbler - adult, very pallid individual, worn feathers.

Blackcap - although the cap on this bird appears black it was infact mixed with 40% brown feathers, which combined with its worn primaries and broad and rounded tail feathers made this bird a 1st summer. Closer examination also proved it was a breeder as it had a 'brood patch' - which male Blackcaps have, as they share incubation with the female.

Brood patch.

Every picture tells a story....

A recent view from the away end at Hillsborough, the floods hit Sheffield very badly and S6 didnt escape. With only 5 weeks to the start of the season we are now in the process of relaying a new pitch. Never mind it could be worse, at least we are not begging at the Premier Leagues door unlike out neighbours !
