Cloud spotting

This is the unusual Mamma formation of clouds, seen over Broom GP in August, on par with a BBRC rarity I am informed.

Flamborough Flutterbyes

Wall, Peacock, Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell all in the wildlife garden we landscaped for our friend Mike in 2006.

tu, tu, tu for you !

We heard these five Greenshank calling over the camp site at Buckton and we eventually tracked them down to a small flooded pool within a corn field near the 'back of boards' road. Birds were rather quiet otherwise with the highlights being a female Marsh Harrier, Wheatear and 25 Sooty Shearwaters north at Flamborough.

Buckton summer

A distant view of the 'cliff top dell' at Buckton , situated only 250m inland of the cliff edge and offering the best first arrival cover for incoming migrants.

A female/juv Merlin perched near the village pond August 16th.

So far we have ringed 50 juvenile Tree Sparrows at Buckton this year - all within 20 nest boxes purchased with a kind donation from Yorkshire Birding - thank you.
