Northern Marsh Orchid and Kittiwake

Northern Marsh Orchid, one of two spikes found at Buckton at the weekend - my first site record. An atmospheric Kittiwake, most now have medium sized chicks in the nest.

High seas on the longest day

trois enfants!

A view inside the Barn Owl nest box in late May, five chicks with the size difference between the oldest and youngest very much apparent. The box also contained quite a cache of dead rodents.

Three weeks later and three of the five chicks have survived, all have now been fitted with BTO rings, to track their life histories.

Only their mothers could love them!

This is the first confirmed breeding for Barn Owls at Buckton, thanks to landowner Chris and a suitably placed nestbox!
