Redwings have been much in evidence in the last couple of days with over 30,000 seen moving East along the coast at Durlston in Dorset trying desperately to escape the worst winter in a generation. The birds featured here had found an urban pyracantha bush in Potton. Today the weather just seemed to have deepened. At Willington, Lapwings were just sitting in deep snow on the top of the frozen lake, not moving except to reposition themselves against the piercing wind. This really is bad and its difficult to get any enjoyment out of watching birds facing such hardship. The best we can do is keep our garden feeding stations topped up and help our own local birds.
