L551772

This bird is a first winter male Common Redpoll with a wing of 72mm, at first I though this bird was a most likely a female but close inspection revealed tiny red feather tips in the rump and sides of the throat. So on that basis the wing on this individual is at the lower end of Common (male 70-78mm). Overall its plumage is pale and it is particularly 'broad beamed' at the head and neck.
